Vinyasa Yoga - a fun and energising meditative dance
Vinyasa is a style of yoga that has movement at its core. Yoga postures are linked together as sequences and the breath is used to move from one posture to the next. Movements and sequences of postures can vary from the very gentle to the highly dynamic, almost gymnastic transitions that, these days, capture people’s attention on social media.
In Sanskrit, the word “vinyasa” means “intelligent placement”, and students are encouraged to move with awareness, no matter the degree of difficulty. The benefits of Vinyasa Yoga include limbering and warming the body, discovering your individual range of movement, connecting breath and movement, and creating a sense of absorption in the quality of the movement. Many students find this a pleasant, fun and energising form of yoga, as the way one movement flows into the next is much like a meditative dance.
