New Yin/Yoga Nidra class on Tuesday evenings starting this Tuesday 07.02.17 in Nelly Bay on the Esplanade under the trees, with Jasmine Matus. For those of you unfamiliar with Yin or Yoga Nidra - Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to a dynamic physical practice (Yang) - not just yoga but anyone who spends a lot of time cycling, running or has a fast paced lifestyle. We work on the ground only and rather that heating our muscles flowing from pose to pose, we stay in the postures for a period of time (between 2 - 5 minutes) to activate the deeper layers of our anatomy our connective tissues - the fascia - the sheath that surrounds the muscles, the joints, bones and ligaments and tapping into the meridians. The Yin component will be for an hour followed by half an hour of deep relaxation, Yoga Nidra - a guided meditation that unites all the layers of our constitution promotes rest and relaxation and a great nights sleep! It is said that 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra equates to 3 hours of good sleep and is soothing and healing for the body and mind alike. I am very excited about teaching this class as I believe we could all do with more self love, nurturing and deep relaxation! Please bring a sarong or the like to cover yourself during the relaxation component of the class.
